Boyfriend troubles:/?

so me and this guy(lets use the name rick) started going out about 4 days ,we talk text everyday but i cant see him right now cause im grounded.This is his first relationship and my first relationship.The problem is ive seen in other friends relationships the guy calls them pretty and complements on them tons but my bf does none of that and im also always starting the conversations...Am i just over reacting or is there something wrong,should i talk to him about it?
