I'm not sure what you mean by your description, but after a year, you should be well healed and settled properly. If I were you, I would seek a second opinion. I think the race comment is a cop-out. Race can make you more prone to certain complications, but I've never heard that some races heal slower than others. That's just a bunch of BS.
